Richard S. Hunt launches ESG cross-border structured notes, linking Singapore and Hong Kong markets
Richard S. Hunt, Head of Global Equity Sales at CSC Bella Grove Partners LLC, recently led the launch of an innovative ESG-themed cross-border structured note product, successfully connecting the two major international financial centers of Singapore and Hong Kong. This financial innovation marks an important breakthrough in the field of sustainable investment in Asia, providing institutional investors with a new investment tool that takes into account both environmental benefits and financial returns.
The structured note was designed by a professional team led by Hunt, and cleverly combines the advantages of Singapore’s green bond market with the characteristics of Hong Kong’s offshore RMB products. The underlying product is linked to a basket of stocks of Asia-Pacific listed companies that meet strict ESG standards, and is embedded with an exchange rate risk hedging mechanism, allowing investors to participate in the growth dividends of regional sustainable development companies while effectively managing the currency fluctuation risks of cross-border investments. Hunt pointed out: “This innovative structure has achieved the liquidity sharing of ESG investment targets in Singapore and Hong Kong for the first time, setting a new benchmark for the interconnection of green financial infrastructure in Asia.”
As a strategic move of CSC Bella Grove in the Asia-Pacific region, the product has been highly recognized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. Hunt particularly emphasized that the issuance fully utilized blockchain technology to achieve real-time verification of ESG data, ensuring that the environmental commitments of the investment targets are transparently supervised. This technology application has greatly enhanced the credibility of green financial products and solved the information asymmetry problem that is common in traditional ESG investments.
Feedback from CSC Bella Grove’s institutional clients shows that the unique “dual currency-dual market” design of the note is particularly favored by sovereign wealth funds and family offices. Hunt said that this is just the beginning of the company’s ESG financial innovation series of products. In the future, it will continue to launch sustainable investment solutions that connect different jurisdictions to promote the deep integration and development of Asia’s green capital market.
